Young people interested in a career in the caring services are being given the opportunity of a modern apprenticeship with Partnership Care West.

And while undergoing the apprenticeship recruits will also be able to work towards National Vocational Qualifications with the North West Institute of further and Higher Education.

This innovative project aims to encourage young people to choose Care as a career option by providing employment and training in Care qualifications.

The Modern Apprenticeship Scheme provides access to high quality work-based training and learning for young people with emphasis placed on personal development and occupational requirements.

Partnership Care West is currently recruiting young people aged between 18 and 24 to join this new Modern Apprenticeship Scheme in Care. As an apprentice individuals would be in paid employment with Partnership Care West as a Domiciliary Care Worker, work closely with experienced and skilled staff and receive on the job training. In addition through the North West Institute of Further and Higher Education the apprentice would work towards NVQ levels 2 and 3 in Care plus Keyskills.

Helen McDonnell Development Officer of the Project commented, "This is a wonderful opportunity for 18-24-year-olds who are genuinely interested in working with people and who would like to follow a career in Care.

"Not only are apprentices in paid work but they also work towards gaining qualifications as well and completion of the apprenticeship may also enhance future employment and progression opportunities."
